๐Ÿ‘‰ Where are my money people?

Hello Reader,

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I've become a bit of a gossip lately.

I blame the podcast,

If you donโ€™t know it: itโ€™s a podcast where people anonymously submit low-stakes, real-life gossip โ€” coworker drama, weird friend dynamics, social faux pas โ€” and the hosts retell the story with smart guests who dissect it like itโ€™s a sport.

Nothing โ€œimportantโ€ is discussed at all.

Yet it really works (and it's one of the few podcasts I still listen to religiously) because:

๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜†โ€™๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—ถ๐—น๐˜ ๐—ฎ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† around people who enjoy good stories and observing human behavior and laughing a little at how ridiculous we all are.

Plus, it's changed the way I value "gossip" forever.

Which makes me wonder: Whereโ€™s the space for people who like business, leadership, and wealth but donโ€™t want every conversation to feel like working?

Everything else is so heavy right now.

I want smart conversations about my shared interests AND some levity.

I want to hang out with my peers and not feel the pressure to "network" while I do it.

That desire has been quietly shaping what weโ€™ve been building over here. This is not as a reintroduction of me, but as a clearer home for people who want better insight, better conversations, and a more human relationship with money.

And in two weeks, this idea gets literal.

Iโ€™m debuting a ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜๐˜ฏ ๐˜“๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ด with Amelia Misenheimer, called ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—”๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ, ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™.

There's nothing to โ€œlearn.โ€ Just smart, relaxed conversations about what weโ€™re actually investing in right now.

Yes, we'll talk money (we can't help ourselves) but we'll also talk ideas, choices, and the lives weโ€™re invested in alongside our businesses.

I'm a CFO and tax advisor, and Amelia is a real estate and wealth consultant, so this is the conversation we're having offline everyday with clients and each other. We're just opening the door and pulling up a few more chairs.

If youโ€™ve ever thought, surely there are other people like me, there are. Weโ€™re just trying to find each other.

I'm excited for...

9/17 is a free national park day, and I've planned a sunrise hike in Joshua Tree National Forest.

I grew up hiking in the CO Rocky Mountains, and I'm genuinely excited whenever I break out my hiking boots.

An offer for you...

My next conference (and therefore next adventure day) is October 18th in Austin, Texas.

This one is open to the public. My friend Angie at Founders Recess is planning a one-day business retreat around this event.

Favorite Thing...

Speaking of hiking, the best hiking boot I've ever owned is the Altra Mid Boot.

Originally a trail running shoe, Altra has expanded to make hiking boots too and you will never find a comparable shoe so light and comfortable.

I seriously asked the salesperson in REI what was wrong with it when I first tried it on! And it's a cute color.

Money Study...

Millionaires really do spend their time differently.

Despite the hype of "passive income," a Harvard Business School study, Time Use and Happiness of Millionaires, found that millionaires spend time spend less time on passive activities and more on active leisure.

This supports my theory that protecting time for active, energizing experiences is part of how high performers sustain focus and build wealth.

Hello Reader, Earlier this year, I signed up to be a sponsor at the GROW 2026 Conference. (Shout out to Catherine Brown, who hosts. This event is amazing and 2027 tickets are out). GROW was to be the biggest marketing play of my year. I was taking time away from tax season and my family to be there. As a sponsor, I was completely booked solid. Fourteen back-to-back sessions over two days and there would be no breaks. I was excited, but I also knew I was going to be exhausted. (Iโ€™m actually a...

Hello Reader! Do you even remember this newsletter? Happy to see my emails again? Iโ€™m offering you a gift just for being here. Donโ€™t remember? Thatโ€™s ok. I have taken a rather long break. Enjoy this update and then decide if you want a gift from me too. I honestly donโ€™t know if Iโ€™m "back" to writing yet. Why did I pause in the first place? In 2025, I decided pursuing my goals was taking too much effort. Iโ€™d been pushing through some tough years: 9 emergency room visits, 2 new babies, a...
